Argentina: Access to health systems must be fair, equitable and based on primary care

Annual Report of the Director ARG Dr Villar (11)

Access to health systems must be fair, equitable and based in primary care, said Vice Minister of Health of Argentina, Eduardo Bustos Villar, during the 52nd Directing Council of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

Bustos Villar highlighted the work of PAHO Director Carissa F. Etienne, particularly in achieving progress in maternal and child health and universal health coverage, fighting noncommunicable diseases, strengthening health systemsaddressing social determinants, and promoting the right to health.

“We, as Member States, must be architects in the construction of the universal health coverage concept based on a determinants approach,” he said. “The responsibility of the States regarding access to health systems is unavoidable.”
