The delegate of Canada to PAHO’s 52nd Directing Council said today that in order to address health challenges such as noncommunicable diseases, broad, all-of-society partnerships are needed.
In her remarks, the Canadian delegate applauded the Plan of Action for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases that will be discussed during this week’s meeting. “We cannot address these problems individually. This plan requires the attention of all of society, with the public and private sectors and civil society, so that people live more active and healthier lives.”
The Canadian delegate also called on all countries of the Americas to work together to comply with requirements of the International Health Regulations.
