The 52nd Directing Council and 65th Session of the Regional Committee of WHO holds opening session

The Minister of Health of Panama and outgoing President of the Directing Council, Javier Díaz; U.S. Assistant Secretary of Global Affairs, Nils Daulaire; and Interim Manager of the Social Sector of the IDB, Héctor Sánchez-Salazar, along with OAS Secretary General José Miguel Insulza, WHO Director-General Margaret Chan, PAHO Director Carissa F. Etienne, and Directing Council Secretary and PAHO Deputy Director Jon Andrus, opened deliberations that will set the health agenda for the Region of the Americas.The 52nd Directing Council and 65th Session of the Regional Committee of WHO for the Americas will take place from 30 September to 4 October in Washington, D.C., with the participation of the region’s highest-level health authorities.
