Agenda for fourth day of PAHO’s 52nd Directing Council

Agenda Day 4
The fourth day of the annual meeting of top health authorities of the Americas opened with a discussion of the need to increase the number of trained health personnel in primary health care systems.

Delegates of the Region’s ministries of health participating in the 52nd Directing Council of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) also analyzed cooperation for health development in the Americas, as well as resolutions and other actions of intergovernmental organizations of interest to PAHO, including the Sixty-sixth World Health Assembly of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Forty-third General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS).

Other agenda items today include progress reports on the Plan of Action on Psychoactive Substance Use and Public Health, and the Millennium Development Goals and Health Targets in the Region of the Americas. There will also be a side event on the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.
