Argentina: Cooperation with CARICOM as an example of agreements on health

Cooperation for Health Development in the Americas (41)

Dr. Andrea Carbone, Ministry of Health, Argentina

During consideration of the policy for cooperation for health development in the Americas, the delegate from Argentina, Andrea Carbone, affirmed that her country promotes health cooperation between countries, South-South cooperation, and triangular cooperation between countries and with subregions. She said that such cooperation is not only technical, but also political, social, and cultural.

Carbone pointed out as an example of the strengthening of cooperation the recent agreement with the CARICOM countries, signed with the support of PAHO and CARPHA. She indicated these agreements are based on solidarity and mutual respect, and the absence of constraints. She also stressed the necessity for PAHO to strengthen cooperation between countries and to undertake resource mobilization policies.
