Region of the Americas to work to reduce premature deaths due to noncommunicable diseases by 25% by the year 2025

Resolutions and Actions of Interg Organiz of interest  to PAHO (46)

Health authorities of the Americas today approved a Plan of Action for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) in the Americas that calls for a 25% reduction in premature deaths due to cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, and chronic respiratory diseases by 2025.

This plan of action, approved by the 52nd Directing Council of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) proposes various lines of action to generate policies and multisectoral partnerships for the prevention and control of NCDs, lower the incidence of risk factors that cause these diseases, improve the response capacity of health systems, and strengthen NCD surveillance and research.
