Bolivia: The challenge will be to turn the consensus into reality

Dr. Juan Carlos Calvimontes

“We have big challenges, but the most important one is to put into practice all that we have agreed upon together over these past five days,”  Dr. Juan Carlos Calvimontes, Bolivia’s Minister of Health and Sports and Vice President of the 52nd Directing Council of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), noted during the meeting’s closing session.
Calvimontes said that “all our countries want to solve health problems; some countries have more strengths and opportunities than others; some are just taking their first steps; but we are all in charge of writing our future.”

The Bolivian minister praised the leadership of the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Margaret Chan, and of the Director of PAHO, Dr. Carissa F. Etienne.
